OUR GUIDES

Founder & Guide

As a young child back in my little hometown on the east coast of South Africa, my love language was always movement - it was my THING - an expression and expansion of my inner fire, my love, to my surrounding world.

Organically (and with a lot of hard work), I progressed to working as a professional dancer with Cape Town City Ballet. I thought this was it - that I had made it to my soul purpose in life. Much to my surprise, my journey there was only my preparation for the entire new world of healing that awaited me. My insecurities had never been so loud, and I found myself hating myself so much to the point that I engaged in self-harm. Enter: Yoga.

And so the journey of true self-discovery began. Yoga became my medicine and over some time I realised that my mind, heart and body could no longer cope or thrive in that same working environment. In 2017, I intuitively and spontaneously made the bold decision to move abroad to a place I’d never been before: Hong Kong.

Apart from falling in love with that magical part of the world, I also fell back in love with myself. I deep dived into Yoga there, learning from top masters pretty much every single day. I couldn’t get enough of it and began to feel the inner call for me to share this ancient wisdom practice with the world. I wanted to help people heal by coming home to themselves like I did. In 2019 I chose to honour this call by doing my first ever 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India, and this is the exciting part: being 5 weeks pregnant. Since then, I’ve continued following my heart by relocating to London (and later Essex) to be with my husband, undergone the (ever-going) initiation of Motherhood twice, and completed two other Yoga Alliance certified teacher trainings qualifying me in Embodiment, Somatics, Yin and Pre & Postnatal yoga.

As many of us on this yogic path, my perception of what Yoga is has naturally evolved over time as I’ve studied further and continued learning from different teachers. My path has therefore had me immerse myself in many of its various types such as Traditional Hatha, Vinyasa, Hot 26, Ashtanga, Yin, and Restorative yoga. Over the years my curiosity has led me to soaking up ancient and modern wisdom, resulting in my work being supported by threads of Tantric and Buddhist philosophy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Neuroscience, Astrology, Somatics, Sound, Voice Healing, Trauma awareness, and Embodiment practices. Motherhood has undoubtedly taught me the most about myself, and I look forward to continue drawing from my experience in order to hold space for other mamas.

I stand rooted in the belief that Yoga and these complimentary practices hold immense power to transform the way humanity inhabits and experiences life on Earth as a collective. I believe in the unfolding of healing on an individual level which ripples into our human collective and creates a shift in the way we function, respond and affect one another. I believe that we are Nature and that in healing ourselves we bring healing to our greater Mother, Earth.

My hope is to offer you the necessary tools and practices to help guide you deeper into your bodyheartmind in order for you to integrate your practice and learnings into your daily life. I hope that you come to know that there is nowhere but here, and that the intimacy you seek is available to you here, right now.

Quite kismetly, there are many features about myself that point towards me being a teacher and leader. My name Nicola means “Victory of People”, and my maiden surname “People/Warrior/Army/Tribe”. Astrologically speaking, I’m triple Fire, meaning: my sun, moon and rising signs are all in Aries - suggesting I am adventurous, spontaneous, assertive, direct, headstrong, passionate, self expressive, imaginative, independent, opinionated, ambitious, impulsive, and likely a leader of some kind. These traits supposedly point to my truest nature - many of which lived in my shadow for most of my life until I began doing the inner work to come home to myself.
